My Personality 1. Calm I have never gotten into an altercation at school or at any other place for that matter. I don't get mad easily, which I think is a good thing because if I was a hot head then I would be getting into a lot of trouble. What I have noticed is that hot heads always have problems with other people that are hot heads so I'm glad that I am not a hot head. 2. Talkative I talk all the time especially with all my close friends. I'm always the first one who says something when there is an awkward moment in any case which I think is a good thing. But when I meet people for the first time, I don't talk as much which is shyness but when the awkward moment of meeting someone new is over then I talk more. 3. Optimistic I'm just not a negative person even when I am upset or mad. There is always that one person in your group of friends that is negative and I hate it when they try and bring the whole group down. I always tell that one per...

My Hobby 1. Listening to Music Music gives me the needed refuge whenever I feel like my head is spinning and I just want to shut out everything around me. The good thing about music is that there is music for every occasion and feeling. Whenever I feel depressed, I listen to sad songs. They guide me and keep me company during those trying moments. Whenever I'm happy, I have a collection of party songs that I dance to for hours to amplify the good feeling.  2. Reading Books There ara many reasons why I love reading. The first reason is it gives me a level of fulfillment. That is, books rejuvenate me. After reading a book, I feel like a whole new being and my outlook in life changes. The second reason is books make my mind sharp. It is a known fact that books improve our brain muscles. They make us think better and improve our decision making abilities.  3. Dancing Dance can taught me how to stay strong and push my limits. I have had many injuri...

4 Challenges Every Malaysian University Student Will Face 1. Independent learning and research assignments. They had little or no experience with such assignments, which are typically found in Western universities. 2. T ime management.   In secondary school, they had not needed to manage time so effectively. In university, they now faced a large number of assignments which increase in difficulty over the semester. Assoc Prof Tong and Ahmad noted that “time management is a life skill that takes time to develop” and it would be best to teach students this skill while in secondary school. 3.M ost students wished they had a better command of English, especially in reading and writing. Though many had graduated from a pre-university program conducted in English, they felt a stronger command of English would help them handle the high volume of reading, lengthy writing assignments, and oral presentations. 4.T he “spoon-feeding” school systems which most Malaysian student...

3 Things Every University Student Needs to do in University 1. Get involved in a club or society  Joining a club or society will even teach you new skills. But the most important benefit is that it will help you expand your social circle. It will help you develop connections with people in the club (supervisors, professors, other students) and also help you in future networking by connecting more easily with alumni and other people who are also involved in a similar club or activity. Explore all your options and choose an activity (or two) that interests you. Also, remember to leave a positive impression on those around you. 2. Start A Fitness Routine Living on your own can be overwhelming. Add to that a full schedule of classes and having to manage your own chores and activities, and you are very likely to forget to take care of yourself! Many students gain weight in their first semester at university because they are in charge of their own meals and ofte...

My First Year University Life at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Having browsed through the Malaysia Students Blog, there is no doubt that a negative perception persists towards local universities in Malaysia. To a certain extent, I agree: from the ridiculous oruentation,, dirty politics to how they treat us like school kids  all the time. Honestly, I hated that. Therefore, I vowed from the beginning of my course, by hook or by crook, that I shall turn these 3 years in the University of Kebangsaan Malaysia into the most kick-ass experience ever. This article is a hard-thought, careful and honest description of the tribulations, achievements and lessons which I experienced in this wonderful campus. But more than anything else, this is a tribute to the beloved friends I made along the way, the powerful mentors that have laid down invaluable guidance and the enthusiastic juniors whom I shall meet in the future. Below, in no particular order, are the meaningful...
