University Life
3 Things Every University Student Needs to do
in University
1. Get involved in a club or society
Joining a club or society will even
teach you new skills. But the most important benefit is that it will help you
expand your social circle. It will help you develop connections with people in
the club (supervisors, professors, other students) and also help you in future
networking by connecting more easily with alumni and other people who are also
involved in a similar club or activity. Explore all your options and choose an
activity (or two) that interests you. Also, remember to leave a positive
impression on those around you.
2.
Start A Fitness Routine
Living
on your own can be overwhelming. Add to that a full schedule of classes and
having to manage your own chores and activities, and you are very likely to
forget to take care of yourself! Many students gain weight in their first
semester at university because they are in charge of their own meals and often
forget to exercise. Take charge of your fitness regimen from the start and make
sure you don’t suffer form any lasting health problems. Try joining a
physical activity (most universities offer many dance, aerobics and martial art
extracurricular options) or go to the gym 3 – 5 times a week.
3. Make A Life Plan
Living
care-free and only focusing on your academics and social life is a fun way to
go, but it is also important to figure out what you want from life during this
time. While you’re studying and having all these life experiences, it is also
helpful to know where you are going. It will help you in deciding where to
apply for internships. It will help you figure out which optional classes to
take for your major requirements. It will help you find the right set of alumni
to network with. Figuring out a life plan will help you evaluate what skills
you currently have and which skills you need to gain in order to succeed and
achieve your goals. As you are doing this, it is also important to remember
that nothing is set in stone. You always have the ability to alter your life
plans if you feel like they need to be changed.
